Helping Ukrainian Refugees
If anyone in the Boston area wants to donate clothes, childcare supplies, etc. for Ukrainian refugees please contact me at: metacelsus at protonmail dot com, and we can coordinate.
My girlfriend and I will ship them to her cousins in Poland. Their village (Pokój)1 is now hosting 50+ refugees, many of whom had to leave quickly without taking all their belongings. We can get a pretty good deal on bulk shipping through a Polish agency.
Note that I do *not* recommend buying stuff to donate, it's far more effective to donate the cash. But, for example, if you have extra clothes your kids have outgrown, you could donate them.
Important notes:
We will ship everything on Friday, March 25.
Underwear, socks, and diapers are especially in demand.
We probably have enough shirts already.
Of course, please make sure that any donated clothes are clean.
Interestingly, in Polish, “pokój" means either “room” or “peace”. The population is about 1500 so getting 50 refugees is quite a lot proportionally. Many residents in Pokój (my girlfriend’s family included) have historical connections to Lviv (or Lwów in Polish) because of the Soviet population transfers.
